Explainer Animation: Software Platform

As an international payment platform, PayRecs focuses on making banking transactions simple.

And when they reached out to us about incorporating video into their user experience, we recognized that simple is sometimes the best approach.

Working with their existing brand, we designed this explainer video, a series of How-To’s, and bank client specific overview videos to help PayRecs quickly, efficiently, and simply engage their users.

Expertise Video: Technology Company

Just saying the word “Digital” opens up an almost overwhelming number of possibilities.  With a slew of online platforms, new technology and updates introduced on what seems like a daily basis, and ever-evolving customer expectations, businesses can be seriously challenged just trying to keep up (not to mention while having time to focus on the “business” of the business).  We recently had the pleasure of telling the story of  RDA , a team of experienced digital wizards who help companies navigate and make best use of digital tools like Sitecore, Salesforce, and Shopify.  Click on the video to learn more.

And with the use of video for business growing by 261% (yes, you read that correctly) in just the past two years, saying the word “Video” also can be overwhelming.  In this recent “State of Video” report by Vidyard they found that the number one barrier for companies who would like to use more video but are not yet is not having a clear video strategy.

Like RDA, Solstice has a “problem first” approach to working with our clients.  We always start with strategy, and then turn to our deep bench of tools to design a best use of video to address our clients’ goals.

Are you stuck in the “no strategy” space as well?  Or maybe you have a strategy, but aren’t sure how to implement?  You’re not alone.  And we can help . . .

Delivering the Future . . . Today

It’s more than a tagline, it’s a recap of this entire project.

When inventor and designer Jeremy High first approached us about creating a sequence of videos about his innovative new smart home product, he had a clear business concept, a plan, some great engineering files, and was prepping for his brand launch at CES 2022.  What he didn’t have?  A working prototype of the Fresh Portal.  (He does now.  Follow his story here to learn more.)

Enter the magic world of video and animation.  We worked with Jeremy’s team to define strong messaging for each of the 8 distinct audiences he had identified as early adopters, created scripts and storyboards that could maximize a start-up budget while appealing to sophisticated investors and decision makers, and managed a production schedule of location filming, green-screen studio footage, 3D animation, and stock footage to meet his CES launch deadline.  He reported back to us:

“Several times throughout the trade show I would approach people while they were watching the videos.  They would ‘shush’ me, finish watching, then we could jump right into a ‘what’s next’ conversation since they really understood the product and the company already.”

We love the great feedback, Jeremy!

Video and animation is an extremely effective tool for demonstrating products, explaining the features and benefits, and, in cases like this, for delivering the experience of a future product . . . today.

What’s next for your business?  And how can we help you bring it life?  Tell us here.

Investor Pitch Video: Healthcare Technology

Breathe easy . . .

We first worked with Dynaris a few years ago when they needed a 3D animation to demonstrate the benefits of their technology.  The company has grown since that time, and called again this summer in need of a rushed project – they had investor pitch opportunities and really needed a well-produced video.

The first project had worked out well – helping them open new doors and establish relationships that put their product into the hands of healthcare providers.  For this next one, they wanted a different approach, highlighting not only the tech but also the team behind it.

Their first question was: “This is different from our first project, do you work this way as well?”

And then, “How fast can we get it done?”

And our answers?  “Yes” and “How fast do you want it?”

We’ve designed our company to create a wide range of video, animation, marketing, and strategy projects on a timeline that works for you.  We’re nimble, creative, fun, and experienced.  Hey, that’s what we want out of our vendors, too!

Whether it’s an upcoming tradeshow, event, investor pitch, selection committee interview, you name it, you can trust Solstice to deliver a quality product with a simple process, on time.  With the Solstice team, you can breathe easy.

Project Case Study for Fabricator: Craftsmen Industries

When golfers like Tiger Woods, Jason Day, and Phil Mickelson will be lounging in your trailer, you want to make something really spectacular.

And when a client like TaylorMade is thrilled to hit the PGA Tour circuit in your creation, you want to make a spectacular video about it.

Word of mouth is one of the strongest forms of marketing for companies of all types and industries. And a well produced video testimonial creates word of mouth opportunities that last. That’s why we love when an innovative company like Craftsmen Industries invites us to create a video testimonial like this one.

Even better? When we receive a testimonial in return!

“I could not be happier.  You nailed it. The shorter version is 100% customer as it should be and he used the tag line perfectly. This would be an Olympic perfect 10.  Thanks to you and your team for such fantastic work.  You ROCK!  I hope you are as proud of this as we are with this production.  What an awesome testimonial.  Nice work.  Hugs and high fives all around. “ — Mark Steele, President/CEO

Product Demo Video: Consumer Product

For e-commerce, product demonstration videos are a must-have item.

They should be quick, simple, get right to the point, and, to state the obvious, accurately demonstrate the use of the product.

But can’t they also be fun? Eye-catching? And tell a memorable brand story?

When the inventor of the Wine-Tapa approached us to demonstrate how his product keeps your tasty beverage bug-free whilst you sip freely in the great outdoors, we did our typical research into the space. It turns out this category has several products all competing for the same dollars. And quite a few of those had product demo videos. So how to help our client stand out? Gather the Solstice Productions creative team, stir gently, and let simmer . . .

Process Animation: Manufacturing

“Solstice made my project painless.

I was very impressed with how they took a verbal vision and turned it into reality.  Their open minded attitudes to listening and implementing was very refreshing to deal with.  Their flexibility during the project really lets the most novice of marketing people complete a high level project.  I am already looking forward to more video creations in the future.”

Jay Ray – CEO Detector Technology

DeTech, Inc, a state of the art fabrication and production facility that specializes in Channel Electron Multipliers, Glass Extrusion & Fabrication and Motion Control Products, offers a unique manufacturing process that differentiates their product lines.  This Palmer, MA based business turned to Solstice Productions to produce a high-end 3D animation highlighting the manufacturing process and the unique features of DeTech CEM products.

The challenge?

Capture this highly technical and precise process in a visually compelling, simple to understand animation, and stay accurate to the devices, the process, and the technology.

The process?

DeTech, Inc shared an extensive PowerPoint presentation with the producers at Solstice, and provided engineering files (CAD), photographs, and technical language and expertise.  Solstice turned that information into a written script and storyboard, which was revised and then approved by the client.  A shorter, sample animation was provided first, ensuring to DeTech that Solstice could understand and accurately translate the information into moving images.  The expanded script and video was then produced.

The result?

Let us know what you think!  Would a 3D process animation be a good sales or training tool for your business?  Want to talk?  Contact me.

Culture Video: Specialities Contractor

“So, how are you different?”

Ever heard that one from a prospective client? And then you kinda go “ummm . . . . “

We all know the buzzwords – “quality” “customer service” “value”. And let’s face it, we all know those attributes, while important, are really just the base standards you have to meet to stay in business.

So, how are you different?

Every company has an identity, a brand, a core – just like every business owner, every employee, every individual has an identity, a brand, a core. And at that core are the things make you, or your company, a true one of a kind.

Let’s get to the core of this situation with a handful of to-don’ts:

  1. Don’t be afraid to be authentic. You may think your engineers, craftspeople, admins won’t be good on camera. You are wrong! They are at the core of what you do, and they embody the brand better than anyone else. Let them shine!

  2. Don’t overcomplicate. There are lots of fun and imaginative ways to create a video message. And those are great social media posts, ad campaigns, or greeting cards. But to showcase your true identity and your unique value, keep it simple and honest.

  3. Don’t be nervous. A culture or core competencies video may feel like a pop quiz. But I have a secret – there are no wrong answers. This should be a fun, inclusive, and engaging process (after all, those are the ones that yield the best results).

When at your core you have an amazing team and service like our long time clients Western Specialty Contractors you want to show it off – and we’re always ready to help!

Explainer Animation: Technology Platform

When Forbes ranks a marketing tactic as high on the list of “must haves“, it might be time to consider it.

Explainer animations have been playing an increasingly vital role in businesses across industries, and with great reason.  You have products, processes, and solutions that are amazing, increase profits and productivity, solve problems, and provide tremendous value to your customers.  So what’s the issue?  Before they’ll buy (and certainly before they will pay the premium that you so obviously deserve) they need to understand exactly WHY your product/process/solution is the exact thing they are looking for.  Enter the Explainer animation – 60-90 seconds that succinctly describes your value in a fun and engaging way.

Explainer animations come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.  If you can think of it, you can create an animation of it.  So how do you know which to choose?

As a director, I always believe that the simplest solution is the right solution.  Don’t ask your audience to make leaps, or to try to guess at what exactly your product/process or service is.  Don’t build your animation out of stock assets that could apply to any other business in your industry (or for that matter, in any other business period).  And don’t try too hard to be funny or cute.  Yes, entertaining your audience is great.  But the business executive who chooses to click play on your explainer video does so for one reason only – she wants to know why YOUR solution is the best way to solve HER problem.  Don’t distract her from that mission.

And keep in mind that your target audience

(which we in the business like to call BUYERS) could easily choose to watch your video in a situation where the sound is poor or even non-existent.  Having a great script, voiceover and music or sound effect track is important, but your explainer video can not depend on sound to deliver your message.  The visual story must be strong enough to carry the central message without sound.

A daunting task?

Great explainer animations follow a tight production process, and like any finely honed craft, is best approached with the help of a professional team.  But should this scare you away?  Heck, no!  Choose a production company whose work you enjoy, who have pieces in their portfolio that make you say “That’s a really great product/process/service!”.  They will guide you through the process, making it easy and fun, and leaving you with an amazing explainer video that increases conversion rates over and over and over and over again.
